Presentation Plan

Located on a rural property near Grand Meadow, this new construction residence was designed in connection with an existing detached garage constructed in recent years. The project explores a balance between traditional architectural forms and refined contemporary detailing, resulting in a home that feels both grounded and modern. The images shown here represent the project during the design phase through renderings developed from the 3D BIM model and architectural drawing set.

The plan is organized around a central living and dining space with vaulted ceilings, creating an open gathering area at the heart of the home. A perpendicular kitchen anchors the main space while maintaining visual connections to adjacent rooms and the entrance hall. Designed as a three- to four-bedroom residence, the home incorporates flexible spaces that can adapt to changing needs over time, including a secondary room intended to function as either an office or guest accommodation. Practical considerations also informed the design process. A combined mudroom and laundry space was carefully positioned to connect directly with the existing garage, minimizing unnecessary demolition and integrating new construction with the existing structure.

Accessibility and long-term livability were also central to the design. The home was planned as a zero-entry residence from the garage and incorporates 36-inch door openings throughout to support aging-in-place and ease of movement over time.

Natural light played an important role in the design as well. The kitchen was arranged with a symmetrical composition and east- and south-facing windows, bringing soft morning light into the interior and reinforcing the home’s connection to the surrounding rural landscape.
